Aircision Helps Build the Future of 6G in Eindhoven

At Aircision, we're proud to be part of the effort building 6G in Eindhoven. As part of the Future Network Services (FNS) 6G programme, our team ran a live demo establishing a 5 km wireless connection across the city; from a TU/e building all the way to High Tech Campus Eindhoven.

We set up a live, end-to-end video call over 5 km using our hybrid Free Space Optics and microwave system, then connected it into Signify's BrightSites street lights.

The result: a clear demonstration of how optical and radio paths can work together, switching seamlessly to keep the link alive.

No new fibre in the ground. High-throughput, secure backhaul delivered through the air, deployed in just a few hours. For dense urban environments where digging trenches for fibre is slow, expensive, or simply not possible; that kind of flexibility changes what's achievable.

This is exactly the kind of use case we came to FNS to explore. Joining the programme gave us the chance to work directly with industry partners, test our Free Space Optics technology against real network requirements, and understand where FSO fits into the bigger 6G picture.

Together with Signify, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), and High Tech Campus Eindhoven, we're showing how hybrid optical and radio links can support the next generation of networks; for operators, cities, and campuses alike.

We know FSO can deliver high-capacity, secure connections. The real work now is identifying the right use cases and the right integration points within a network. This demo is a concrete step in that direction, moving hybrid FSO from concept to reality.

This is a genuinely exciting moment for our team. Thank you to Hilde de Vocht, Ronald Gelten, Eduward Tangdiongga, Paul Wijngaard, and everyone else who supported us along the way as well as HighTechXL, Christos Bousis, Joey van der Linden, and Alireza Hajiarab Derkani for production and drone footage.

Aircision antennas power TU/e's 5.7 Tb/s wireless world record

Our optical antennas helped power TU/e's new world record: 5.7 terabits per second beamed over 4.6 km of infrared light between TU/e's campus and High Tech Campus; fast enough for 1.9 million simultaneous HD Netflix streams. The fastest wireless data transmission ever demonstrated over this distance in an urban setting.
